CONTROL BAR
Pay attention to your control bar. It is located at the bottom of your screen and displays your ship’s shield integrity status, hull integrity status, Keys collected, Automap, primary weapons, secondary weapons, ammo counters and afterburner level. The green bar represents your normal shields. If this bar gets very short or disappears, you’re in trouble. The red bar represents the integrity of your ship’s hull. If this gets short you’re in a lot of trouble and need more enhancers. Once the red bar is gone, so are you. Once this happens the Demo will put you back to the beginning gate.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Your ShadowWraith Demo mission is to search through the first level, picking up keys to open doors that will eventually lead you to the endgate, which transports you to the next level. No sweat, right? Be careful though; there are enemies that will try to stop you from
accomplishing this task by depleting your Shield Integrity and your Hull Integrity. The enemies get tougher and more heavily armed as you advance in the game. You’ll find that some doors need specific keys so if you try to open one without the correct key, a voice will let you know which key you need (the appropriate key icon will also
flash in the control bar).
We’ve thrown in items throughout the levels to aid you in your battle:
Shield Rechargers--a green sphere with a rotating gray ring; Red Hull Integrity Caches--a red sphere with a rotating gray ring; Fuel Canisters--silver and gold tubes;
Extra Weapons.
We haven’t given you the entire ShadowWraith arsenal in this demo, but we have included some enhanced guns to help keep you alive. There are also special deflector enhancers (appears as an extra deflector surrounding your ship). Keys come in four colors: red, green, blue, and cyan. A voice will let you know you’ve got the key and it will also appear on the left side of your control bar. To pick up Items, Keys and extra weapons, just fly your ship over them. There are also teleporters which can beam you from one part of a level to another.
WINNING
In order to complete the demo you will have to travel through both levels, picking up keys, collecting items, and finally, exiting out the second level endgate.
HINTS
Use your afterburner to speed out of trouble (if possible).
Learn to fire your secondary weapons accurately.
Look at your Automap, whenever possible, to locate possible secret rooms.
SOUND
To increase the performance of ShadowWraith, drag the Sound Manager 3.1 files (included with the Demo) into your System Folder. Reboot your computer. For more detailed information on installing Sound Manager, see the Sound Manager Read Me in the Sound Manager 3.1
folder. This is the first Sound Manager to be native for Power Macintosh. It also offers several improvements for 68K machines.
MEMORY
To run the game with all of the features, such as full stereo soundtrack, voice integration and sound effects, you will need to change the preferred memory. To do this, click on (highlight) the ShadowWraith Demo icon and choose Get Info from the File Menu (Command I). If you have a 68040 Macintosh, change the preferred memory to 5300K. If you have a PowerMac, change the preferred memory to 5500K.
If you cannot afford this much memory, choose Preferences from the startup screen and turn off music, sound effects and/or voices to increase game performance.

As you progress through the levels, you’ll encounter tougher enemies and harder mazes, but you’ll get more powerful weapons and items to help in your mission. We’ve also got a very difficult worldwide high score contest setting for those who
don’t find the normal mode challenging enough!
